Palmeiras made a poor first half, but when Luxemburgo decided to put Lenny, a second striker, Palmeiras played better. I hope this make Luxemburgo start next game more offensively. I think that was penalty in Diego Souza, but there’s no point in arguing about the referee.

In the end, the draw makes both teams happy, since they have a game of Libertadores da America this Wednesday. That may be why both teams took not many chances.

Palmeiras did not play well, creating not many opportunities, and not scoring the ones the team had been created. After scoring in the 10th minute, Internacional (which was playing with some reserves) had no much trouble to secure the result.

Ans they actually made the difference in the game: Cleiton Xavier made a great pass to Jefferson to cross to Wiilians scores the first goal; and Diego Souza made a great dribble to pass the ball to Marcão, that served Keirrisson to score the winning goal.

That was a great result, because being the first round teams think they can catch up later in the tournament, but these points can make the difference in the end.

Palmeiras play again this wednesday, against Sport, for the second leg of Libertadores’ game. The 1-0 advantage in the first leg and the recent retrospect against this rival (2-1-0 this year) make Palmeiras’ the favorite to going to the quarter finals.

In first half Palmeiras played better than Colo-Colo, and Keirrison hit the post two times. But what looked like would be an easy game was dramatic.

Luxemburgo subbed-out the right-wing-back Wendell for the attacking midfielder Willians, but the change didn’t make Palmeiras better on the pitch. The game got stunk, and neither team could create chances.

In the 61st minute Palmeiras defender Marcao was sent off, which made Palmeiras life even worst; Luxemburgo had already subbed-out the injured Pierre for Evandro, and there was other player to sub-out and put the team even offensive.

In the last ten minutes Palmeiras tried to go suicidal to attack, with no much success, until Cleiton Xavier, at 88th minute, scores from a 30meters+ kick and saves Palmeiras.

Palmeiras will face Sport in the second round of Libertadores da America, and will play the first leg at home. Even with a bad retrospect last year against Sport, this year Palmeiras has a 1-1-0 retrospect. I believe that the team can go to the quarter-finals.

Last night Palmeiras had a hard time to create chances because the team didn’t take it time to set up it attacking force in enemy’s field. Instead, the strikers were always targets of long passes, in the middle of lots of LDU defenders and with no one to play with.

In the first half two players played especially bad: Lenny, which couldn’t create one play or dribble, and Fabinho Capixaba, always trying to do a individual play and losing the ball.

For the second-half Luxemburgo took out Fabinho, and instead of three center-defenders, played with a four-men defensive line, with Maurício Ramos as a the right back. The subbed-in, Marquinhos, played as a right-midfielder.

The modifications were not as decisive as Palmeiras lucky: two minutes after the break, Marquinhos takes the corner, LDU’s goalkeeper fails to hold the ball and Marcão scores.

Some minutes later, the opposite goalkeeper has to be subbed-out, and the reserve goalkeeper fails to stop Diego Souza’s long range free kick, which gave final numbers to the game.

Now Palmeiras has one week to prepare for the most decisive game against Colo-Colo, away, next Wednesday. Only a win will guarantee Palmeiras in the playoffs.
